Transition Linlithgow is by its very nature a local organisation which is enhanced by the people to participate in it. We benefit a great deal from those who volunteer their time and skills with us and in return we hope that we give some benefit back, whither that's re-connecting with others, learning new skills, developing experiences for your CV, etc.
Below we've started a list of the types of projects we need volunteering help with. If you are interested in any of these then please get in touch with us via out Contact page.
Developing our Social Media presence. We have FB, Twitter and Instagram accounts but that's about it. Are we using them optimally, do we need others to connect to younger people?. We should also be thinking about Vimeo and developing short videos too. All beyond the skills of many of our members so help would be greatly appreciated here.
Fundraising. Our core costs need covered and we also need funds for projects but fundraising is a specialist skill and we are looking for help in this area.
HR/Personnel - we'll hopefully soon be hiring staff [pending funding decisions] and we could do with brushing up our internal policies and procedures. Do you have the skills to help us with this?
Library of Stuff - we are looking for someone with web/lite-IT skills to complete our registration/setup with www.myturn.com and to prepare our Library of Things to go live. We also need help with the legal documents, membership T&C's and a few other paperwork related things.
Linlithgow Food Assembly - developing fast, we need a steering team of people who can assist in finding new suppliers and to market and promote the FA. We might also need help with home deliveries or setting up micro distribution points for those that cannot collect on time but can ask a friend to help take their order for them.
Orchard Maintenance - we've 3 orchards in town but would love more. As well as help to maintain our existing trees along with our other volunteers, we are also looking for locations to plant more orchards and that all needs help and planning/financing/etc.
Developing our marketing materials. Our leaflets are out of date and need refreshed.
Repair Skills - Woodworking, metalworking, electronics, textiles, furniture repair, welding, we'll need lots of these specialist skills if we are successful in setting up a FixIt Hub with CCF funding. We want to repair and make new things from stuff people dont want any more. Creative skills, artistic skills, craft skills can all help us.
Storytellers. Yip, our journey is actually all about sharing the positive stories of change that people have and are making. But it requires folks with good writing skills to put these stories into blogs/articles/leaflets/films/audio. Can you help?
Volunteering Lead - Sounds silly but we also need a volunteer to promote our volunteering opportunities and to keep them up to date? Could you help with this and work with VSGWL to update their new website?
Perhaps you want to volunteer on something not listed above. Please get in touch with us and we'll have a chat.
We'll also be looking at the Saltire Awards and similar to see if we can help you to collect credits/points towards you certificates and accreditation of achievement.
Transition Linlithgow are currently applying for funds from the Scottish Government's Climate Challenge Fund (CCF). If successful, we will be creating several jobs which will run from 1st April 2018 to 31st March 2020.
